before im using floppy drive to boot computer.. i use the windows 98 floppy. But today computers are shipped wothout a floppy drive so i cannot use my floppy in other computers to reformat them...one friend of mine told me that a cd can become a boot device.. How do i do that?? I want to have a windows 98 bootable disc... do you guys know of a program that could turn my cd-r to a windows 98 bootable disc??

You can't add boot files to ur windows 98 CD, as it won't be a mutisession disk. So use an another CD instead of Floppy. You can either copy the files in your Win 98 Floppy to the CD or use Boot CDs like Hiren's Boot CD, Active Boot Disk, Ultimate Boot CD etc.

You can use Nero to create a bootable CD-R.
Just go to CD-ROM(Boot) and check out the Startoptions.

All you need to do is follow these steps:
Go into your BIOS, normally by pressing DEL when you are booting up
Find and change the first (primary) boot device/sequence to "Boot from CD"
Open your CD/DVD tray and insert the operating system disc
Make sure you save and exit (usually F10)
Now, when you restart, the computer will disregard the boot sector on your HD and boot from the install disc. Follow all the choices and you can reformat and reinstall.
