Shell32.dll file corrupted in Windows 98,
explorer shuts down and i can't do anything. HELP!? We just recently got an old computer of my grandfathers that runs windows 98 (updated from 95). It worked fine until yesterday when my little sister shut it off funny. Now everytime we try to boot it we get to the login screen and then a error message pops up saying that the "c://windows/system/shell32.dll" (not exactly it, but that's the right filename) is corrupted and to reinstall it. then a popup appears that explorer has a fatal error and it has to shut down. We edn up with an empty desktop, no programs running, and no idea what to do. we have a boot disk and have gotten into Dos but we have no idea how to run dos and so that's not helping, it does the same thing in safe mode. how do we fix this??The registry thing didn't work, i think it's a bad file, not a registry problem.
