At art shows, should there be a difference in

price between digital and film images?

Since both film and digital are equally recognized mediums. The value should be determined by the image not the medium. If Anything digital printing is a more topical format than film.

The value of a fine art print though is, after being depandant on the name of the photograher, dependant on the archival quality of the print. If the fine art film photographer goes through the extra pain of printing on fiber paper instead of RC, as is usually the case, and then tones their image for archival purposes (usually selenium), then the price should be upped to compensate them for their laborious work. The archivalness of digital prints are always brought to question, and although we have made significant strides in making inks that are more permanent, no one really knows if a digital print will stand up to film. I would think that the claims of the digital print's life are little exagerrated, but until its known for sure, I believe digital prints will have a lower price than film.

Actually..I agree with Darrius. The important things are: the artist, how archival is it, quality, size, amount of time it took, how many of them there are, etc.
