vista? I've got a dell XPS 410 with a 256MB nVidia GeForce 8600 GTS video card. I can't get it to work with my Hitachi plasma while running vista. It worked just fine when I was running XP. Any possible solutions out there?

In the futureshop web it says - "Channel Sound Card - Lets you know if these speakers are capable of playing multi-channel audio produced by your sound card. For best results, you will need more than two speakers". what does this mean when it says"lets you know" I am purchasing a 5.1 sound speakers system. I have here a motherboard just came with a bunch of stuff from my friends. The motherboard appears to take two processor and looks like they are sockets 604. Well, nothing else came with it.I was wondering how to visually read the motherboard. I've tried to look for some model number but it doesn't anything at all. What else can you tell just by looking at the motherboard? I'm looking to build this but really don't know anything about this motherboard... My first project so I need some helps, lol...

...the Windows Vista operating system? I purchased a HP Pavilion DV9000 and the operating system is the new Windows Vista. My professor stated that we should only use the Windows XP. Why? And will it affect my system? I am thinking of downloading the MS Office 2000 Professional so I can use the older programs on this laptop for class. Can I do this without affect or ruining my pc?
