(as Raj Kishor) Viju Gulab Nargis Prem Kumar Choreography Chinni Prakash Sound Kaushik Some actors have all the charisma to charm the audience?s attention towards themselves and thus rule the frames completely, and Dilip Kumar is certainly one of those brilliant performers. He has been such a powerhouse of talent and always an amazing treat to watch on screen. I decided to take up one of his very famous movies of all times which almost set a trend in the Indian film industry of making double role films. ?Ram aur Shyam?, the Hindi adaptation of the Telegu film called ?Ramudu Bheemudu? was directed by Tapi Chanakya. The original theme of these movies was derived from Alexandre Dumas, pere?s story called ?The Corsican Brothers?. The story charts the growth of two twin brothers who having separated at a very early age of their lives develop absolutely contrasting temperaments. Ram, the docile and submissive one runs away from home by being tortured by his oppressive brother in law Gajendra (Pran) and lands up in the same village from where Shyam, the aggressive and forceful one has fled, ultimately to land up in Ram?s place. The circumstances that follow make up for all the drama as the other characters in the movie are baffled at the sudden changes in the respective behaviors of Ram and Shyam (as they remain completely unaware of the fact that now they are encountering a different person altogether) until Gajendra finds out the truth and the story is plotted further. The movie is a complete dose of entertainment with wonderful performances from all the major actors. Dilip Kumar in two variant personas is simply engrossing. Moreover his innocent traits and tricks that he plays through the course of the movie are hilariously enticing. The evergreen villain of those times, Pran is once again convincing as he manages to deliver another of his famous ?baddy? role with utmost class. The heroines Waheeda Rehman and Mumtaz, apart from being just the pretty faces also live up to their parts admirably. The music was com posed by Naushad on the lyrics of Shakeel Badayuni. ![]() Code:
