I?ve seen people ask how for programs that will shut down their computer at a certain time. So here?s now.

How To Make A Shutdown Timer!

1. Right click on your desktop and choose "New, then shortcuts".

2. In the box that says "Type the location of the shortcut", type in

"shutdown -s -t 3600"

without the quotation marks and click next.


Note: The number 3600 indicates the amount of seconds before your computer shuts down. So for example

1 hour = 60 minutes = 3600 seconds
2 hours = 120 minutes = 7200 seconds

3. Make up a name for the shortcut and you're done.

You can change the icon for this by right clicking on the icon, select properties, then select change icon. Now click browse to find an icon on your computer that you want to use.

To abort the shutdown process you need to make an abort shortcut

To make an abort key to stop the shutdown timer just create another shortcut. But instead of typing ?shut down? in the location of the shortcut, you will type

" shutdown -a"

without the quotes.

Now you?re done.

If you don?t want to create shortcuts to perform the task, you can do it manually also.


MANUALLY CREATE SHUTDOWN

In this example ? we?ll shut down at 10.07 am.

Click start
Click Run
Type Code: at 10:07 shutdown -s


to abort this process

Code: shutdown -a


Note: All times are in military times, so if you want to shut down at 9:00 pm, you need to type 21:00.


"at 21:00 shutdown -s" without quote


There are many other ways, like making a batch file, etc. but these two are the easiest.
