card, other, which is the most long lived data storage? Hi, I wish to store the data from my computer to a storage device such as mentioned, and I wish to store it safely so it wont corrupt over time, so does anyone know which will last the longest time. For instance I can get a seperate plug in hard drive, which would also be handy to carry around small size to connect to other computers elsewhere, and so save taking a laptop with me, but a hard drive is sensitive to knocks and has moving parts which wear down over time. Another option is a flash drive, but they seem to incorporate silicon electronics, which have 20 year + lifespan all being well! What about memory cards? I would have thought the most solid option is using CDs or Dvds, as if kept in good environment will keep theyre plastic integrity for a much longer time, but I dont know if this is so. Are there any other foms of storage?, which would be the best?
