Can you capture new installs running Thinstall from USB drive while loading an app on the winXP desktop?

Yes, you can. In fact that is how i do many of my thinstalls..

1: Run thinstall (Installed version or USB/Portable version)
2: Follow steps, install app when asked.
3: continue through thinstall wizard.
4: select directory to save thinstalled app to.
5: Build app using Build.bat (NOTE: to tweak app to your needs, read the included pdf manual - there are many options available, reading the manual is the way to understand how they work!)
